Aged Care, our new solution to youth unemployment
December 2019According to the Brotherhood of St Laurence latest youth monitor, youth unemployment has dramatically increased over the past 10 years, eliciting major concern for those young Australians struggling without an income. The national youth unemployment rate is at 12.2%, and continuously growing. This staggering figure particularly impacts young Australians between the ages of 15-24-year old’s, with one in five being reported as out of work for one or more years.
But, there is a possible solution to this issue. New, unexpected areas of employment are opening. Employment forecasts suggest that some occupations are likely to expand in 2023. These include personal carers, child carers, education aides and ICT support technicians. Personal care, mainly aged care and disability are projected to have the highest increase in jobs over the next few years. This is a progressive leap for the work force, with 2023 expected to bring an influx of opportunities.
To capitalise on these employment opportunities, young workers can choose to receive the training needed to fulfil these high growth occupations.
With this growing issue of unemployment in mind and VET qualifications playing a crucial role in securing these opportunities, we are excited to announce that we will be releasing Aged Care resources in 2020!
